Depending on what part of the country you’re from, carbonated beverages such as Coke, Mountain Dew, and the greatest of all Diet Dr. Pepper, can either be referred to as pop or soda. We, in the north, tend to, but not always, refer to these mostly-caffeinated products as “Pop”. However, the south relies on the more provincial and nostalgic “Soda”. Yes, I’m making fun of them, as I look at this as yet another unfortunate result of that terrible Civil War we had a few years back. Continue Reading »
Political manifesto notwithstanding, I’m always impressed when someone can take a different approach (say vandalism) to something people always thought could only be one way (godless vandals). Plainly speaking, most people look at vandalism as destruction of property, and that’s usually more or less the case. But when vandalism can take on a different tone, to make a statement (creatively I might add) without the inherently perceived intrusion of say graffiti or wanton youth destruction, then you’ll get my attention. I love to read. Books, magazine, backs of cereal boxes. I read almost all the time, but I have to admit it’s the act of holding that book or magazine or cereal box in my hand that helps me enjoy the experience. I’ve been spending more time reading news online- -on the way to work, riding the train I’ll use my iPhone to get the latest hard-hitting journalism out there, local and national. But anything longer than a brief article or fabulous blog post of 800 words or less, yeah, probably not going to happen.

He wasn’t as excited and informed me that some upstart wannabe named Jimmy Page had already done that a few years before. I was bummed I had to share my idea with some guy out of Lead Balloon, but such is the price of being creative.
The point of this intro is that no matter how original you think that thing you came up with is, there’s almost always someone who has thought or done it first. Not necessarily better, but first.
Here are a bunch of examples of online fads that people assumed have come about within the last couple of years, though some have been around for more than a century. 8 Online Fads You Didn’t Know Were Invented Decades Ago
As recently as only 4 – 5 months ago, the kind of project I was part of yesterday would have been a pipe dream for members of the Pixel Farm Interactive team. But, along with changes in the company direction (very good changes) we’ve been exposed to new and extremely interesting opportunities. It’s been years since I’ve had a chance to be on a video shoot, but I was fortunate enough to be able to participate in a new Twins spot that PFI is doing.
